How to Layer Skincare Products — The Right Order Explained

Applying skincare in the wrong order means the products don't work properly. Here is the correct order — explained simply, no confusing terms.

Did you know that applying your skincare in the wrong order makes some products almost useless? If you put on moisturiser before your serum, the serum can't get through. If you use toner after moisturiser, it does nothing. Order matters. Here is the correct sequence — simple and straightforward.

The golden rule: thinnest to thickest

The rule is simple: apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency.

Water-based products first. Then serums. Then moisturiser. Then oils. Then SPF (in the morning).

Why? Thin products have small molecules that penetrate deep into skin. If you block them with a thick moisturiser first, they can't get through and you waste most of the product.

Here is the full order:
1. Cleanser
2. Toner
3. Serum
4. Eye cream
5. Moisturiser
6. Face oil (if you use one)
7. SPF (morning only)

Let's go through each one.

Step 1 and 2: Cleanser and toner

Always start with a clean face.

Cleanser removes makeup, oil, and pollution. Choose one for your skin type — Tea Tree Face Wash for oily skin, Aqua Gel Cleanser for dry skin, Calendula Face Wash for sensitive skin.

Toner goes on next — while your skin is still slightly damp. It removes any leftover residue and balances your skin's pH so the next products absorb better. The Calendula Face Toner works for all skin types. The Tea Tree Face Toner is better if you have oily skin.

Apply toner with a cotton pad or press it into skin with your palms. Both methods work.

Step 3: Serum — the most important step

Serum is where the real results happen. These are concentrated treatments with active ingredients that go deep into your skin.

Apply 3–4 drops and gently press into face and neck. Do not rub — pressing is more effective.

Choose based on your main concern:
• Fine lines and firmness: Age Reversist Serum
• Dark spots and dullness: Lumi Radiance Brightening Serum
• Uneven texture and pores: Resurface Reviving Serum
• Dryness and dehydration: Aqua Boosting Hydra Drops
• Oily skin and spots: Tea Tree Serum

Wait 30–60 seconds for the serum to absorb before the next step.

Step 4 and 5: Eye cream and moisturiser

Eye cream goes on before moisturiser — it is thinner and needs to absorb first.

The skin around your eyes is the thinnest on your face. It needs targeted care. Use a small amount of Age Reversist Eye Cream or Aqua Revitalizing Eye Cream — apply with your ring finger (lightest pressure) in gentle tapping motions.

Moisturiser is next. This seals in everything you have applied and keeps your skin hydrated. Choose based on your skin type:
• Oily: Tea Tree Face Cream
• Dry: Aqua Hydrating Cream
• Sensitive: Calendula Face Cream
• Anti-ageing: Age Reversist Instant Perfecting Cream

Step 6 and 7: Face oil and SPF

Face oil is optional — but if you use one, it goes after moisturiser. Oil sits on top and locks everything in. The Dr. C. Tuna Calendula Oil is excellent for dry or sensitive skin.

SPF is the final step — morning only. Never skip this. Sun damage is the number one cause of premature ageing and dark spots. Apply after moisturiser (or oil) and before makeup.

Dr. C. Tuna Sun Face Cream SPF50+ is lightweight and goes under makeup perfectly. The Invisible Sun Stick SPF50+ is ideal for reapplying during the day.

Evening routine: skip SPF, but you can add the Age Reversist All Night Beauty Mask as a final step 2–3 nights a week for intensive overnight treatment.
